Time Crisis: Razing Storm Move-ing on PS3

E3 2010: Namco Bandai's shooter franchise gets exclusive Sony installment this fall with new online mode; Time Crisis 4, Deadstorm Pirates packed in.

LOS ANGELES--The PlayStation Move factored heavily into Sony's 2010 Electronic Entertainment Expo press conference yesterday, as the publisher officially dated the motion-sensing controller for September 14 in the US. And as a controller is only as good as the games it supports, the publisher also rattled off a number of Move-compatible games in sizzle montage accompanying the announcement.

Among those machine gun announcements appeared to be a new installment in Namco Bandai's long-running on-rails shooter franchise Time Crisis. Sure enough, late last night the publisher officially announced Time Crisis: Razing Storm will arrive exclusively for the PlayStation 3 this fall. In addition to the Move, Razing Storm will also be compatible with Namco Bandai's own Guncon 3 light gun peripheral.

Razing Storm's storyline follows a special task force that has been sent to South America in an effort to take out the mastermind behind a plot to topple the United States. In addition to Arcade mode, which pits players against waves of enemies, Razing Storm will include a free-roaming Story mode. The mode lets players hunt down the villainous cabal through destructible environments, utilizing cover and the new auto-look function.

Namco Bandai's latest shooter will also introduce an online multiplayer component to the franchise. Up to eight players will be able to engage in both cooperative and competitive modes in Online Battle. Sentry mode is also new, and it lets up to four players offline attempt to route a prison break attempt.

Notably, the publisher is incentivizing the purchase of Razing Storm by packing in the arcade editions of 2007's Time Crisis 4 and the just-released Deadstorm Pirates. Both games have been updated with Move functionality and will also be compatible with the Guncon 3.

This must be a really short game if they are bundling 3 games in one.

This one looked awful in the stage show, I hope it shapes up.

As a fan of light gun games, I'm excited to see the action that has been limited to the Wii thus far move onto other systems. Time Crisis is a legendary franchise, and I can't wait to bring it home.

the ball isnt exactly ideal but without it, it wouldnt be more accurate than the wii. In terms of looks, whats on screen matters more than the actual peripheral so id settle for the move and ps3 over a wii mote and wii.
but yeah....they both beat playing like "pew pew pew" with kinect.

First time I've been excited for a Move announcement.

    Hope there's more to come.

Who cares if there's a ball at the end?

It will work great with Time Crisis and that type of games. You won't need to buy a gun accessory just to play such game anymore (and then let that gun collect dust because those games are few and far in between).

With the Move controller, it's a win.

The Kevin Butler commercial where they mock shooting with your hands is pretty funny, but really I don't see where the Move will be much better. Pointing a stick with a glowing orb at the end? Personally I'd rather use the Wii Zapper. o_O In all likelihood I'll pick this up but use the Guncon.

I think you're referring to Time Crisis 4 on consoles. 3's functions were fairly straightforward as you pointed to shoot, ducked and were able to change guns while ducking. It's a rail shooter.

I loved 3. The Time Crisis series has always been a personal favorite (Area 51 is my all-time favorite rail shooter though) and I'm glad they are still making them more fun. They need to make online arcade games though. Make it competitive around the world or something awesome in that sense, like what they did in the arcade version of half-life.

That looks kind of cool. They certainly are coming out with plenty of Move games - good to see that they're keeping their promise to come out with hardcore titles and not just casual stuff. I'm thinking I may just have to pick up a Move.

I wish Time Crisis supported the Guncon 3 better. That's part of the reason why I didn't pick it up... the lack of support and glitchy controls really made me avoid it. Time Crisis 3 needed better controls. If the Move thinks it can improve where 3 had its short-comings, then I'm more than willing to try it.

Time to remove those cobwebs from my Guncon 3... now Sega should release The House of The Dead 4.
