Atlus announces holiday launch for latest installment in SNK Playmore's long-running line of team-based brawlers.

LOS ANGELES--It's nearly time to name another King of Fighters, as Atlus today confirmed that it will be publishing the latest entry in SNK Playmore's long-running three-on-three fighting franchise. King of Fighters XIII is set to debut in North America this holiday season on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.

The first installment in the series since King of Fighters XII rebuilt it from the ground up in 2009, King of Fighters XIII will expand the roster from 22 characters to more than 30. Among the additions will be fan favorite Mai, as well as King, Vice, K', Yuri, Maxima, and more. Atlus is also promising faster fights, new moves, and a "vastly improved" online mode.

This will be Atlus' first time handling publishing duties for the series. King of Fighters XII was published by Ignition, while previous installments were released by SNK Playmore itself.

    @KimCheeWarriorX:

    Don't worry, this one grants us at least 7 returning favorites, an actual story mode, Neo Max Super Special Power Guage, boss battle, and team endings. All of which the former game is lacking.

    they better add more content to xiii than the paltry amount served with xii. i kinda felt jipped with the amount of characters and playable levels in xii after the amount i paid for it.

    My favorite announcement of E3 so far. So excited.

    @KaiserKasey
    This game is more like KOF02's style, so if you like KOF02 then XIII might suprise you.

    They should follow Capcom's example and re-release 2k1-2k3. All of their newer KoFs have been awful.

    YES!!! YES!!! YES!!!! *cries* I knew you weren't dead SNK. I'm truly excited over the prospect I'll get to play my beloved KOF XIII on my favorite console! (360) KOF XII was just the preview, KOF XIII is where the real KOF is at!!! Capcom is hogging the spotlight we need you to come back and put them on notice. Competition is healthy. With SC:V, MK9, and this. My wallet is going to be on alert!!!

    Hail to the king! POWAHHHH GEYSER!!!!!!
