About the Awards
Please keep in mind that with the exception of certain special achievement categories (namely, Most Disappointing Absence, Best E3 Trailer, Biggest "What The...?", and Best Hardware), GameSpot's editors' choice awards were limited to games that were playable in some form at E3, such as being available for hands-on play on the show floor or being part of a hands-off, real-time gameplay demonstration. (However, our readers are able to vote on more choices, including games that were not playable and in some cases, were present only in the form of video trailers.)
Please also keep in mind that the Editors' Choice Awards were given to the games that looked the most impressive and made the most impact at the show itself; they were not necessarily based on any future judgment on how those games may eventually turn out. And finally, please be aware that we consider just being nominated a distinction unto itself. Most categories allowed for up to five Editors' Choice finalists, except for Game of the Show, which includes 10 Editors' Choice finalists.
With that out of the way, let's take a look at the most exciting games, demonstrations, events, and hardware at E3 2010.
