Latest E3 Highlights:

Guitar Hero 5 band list revealed

E3 2009: Actual tracks still under wraps, but all artists featuring in the latest instalment of Activision's band franchise have been officially outed.

LOS ANGELES--With Activision's rhythm cash cow set to hit shelves on September 1, and only six artists so far confirmed for the game, many have been wondering which bands will make it into the new game, given that 80 tracks have been promised.

Today, Activision has revealed the full artist list for the game, which contains a mix of familiar faces and bands new to the series. As in previous entries in the series, the game will feature a variety of genres including classic rock, indie, and metal. Players will now be able to use any instrument combination to rock through the songs, with even something as crazy as a five-drummer band being possible.

Though many of the artists have been featured in previous games, there are some newcomers to the roster, including highlights such as Iggy Pop, The White Stripes, and Public Enemy.

Check out the full artist roster below and our first look for more on the game.

Why don't they have Led Zeppelin in any of these games man! The who? ACDC? Not fair! On the bright side, White stripes, david bowie, johnny cash and jeff beck will liven it up.

I like most of these artists, but I'm no sure about putting them in a Guitar Hero game. I mean, I love Elton John, but come on, really?

No Doubt? The only song I can think of atm that they haven't already put on GH is 'I'm Just A Girl'. Awesome.

sheesh, what is wrong with the list , oh i don't know... BEING DIFFERENT? I like that it's NOT the same stuff. What would be the point of making the SAME game? Just remember if u can, they always do add on songs. As for not knowing most of the Bands/Songs? Not a shock, most of u are too young to know them.

Well they have some cool songs, the classics are good, but what gets me kinda mad is that elliott smith is in it.He's my favorite musician, and is really good, but he probably would of never agreed to be apart of gh.Cause he's dead, the only people who have control of his music are the labels and junk. Since he was underground, and i mean guitar hero has a knack of exploiting some songs for dough. And on that basis, adding Elliott on their setlist kinda gets me pissed off.oh well whatever nevermind.*Sigh*

I saw the list of artists and I seen some interesting names. Gorillaz, Beck (E-140 in RB2), Johnny Cash, Rammstein and some others. What I find kind of weird is that there's gonna be a song by Elton John. what's next, Rod Stewart?

Wait, isn't Under Pressure a mainly bass song with very little guitar? What's it doing here?

Saucepark is correct. If you see the artist "Queen and David Bowie", it's "Under Pressure". The part that sucks for me is that over half the game is modern music. I was sold the second I saw Motley Crue, KISS, and Iron Maiden.
