Final Fantasy XIV Online Trailer Impressions
Square Enix has a new massively multiplayer online game, and it's exclusive to the PS3.
The mystery massively multiplayer online game that Square Enix has been working on was revealed at the Sony press conference today. Originally under the code name Rapture, the game is officially the next one in the long-running series and is titled Final Fantasy XIV online. A brief trailer was shown that had plenty of images from the game, with text floating across the screen that started with "On a forgotten page of eternity..." Heroes and gods were mentioned and the final word we were left with was a single name: Eorzea.
We saw sea creatures leaping out of water and flying reptiles soaring through the skies in the midst of an intense battle. The impressive cutscenes showed several characters in elaborate armor and different races, but we will have to track down the details tomorrow when we meet with Square Enix representatives regarding the game. At the end of the trailer, we saw a small group of heroes band together, with a chocobo standing patiently behind them as they looked to the impressive landscape before them.
Final Fantasy XIV Online will launch exclusively for the PlayStation 3 in 2010. Stay tuned to GameSpot because we will be live blogging the Square Enix meeting tomorrow at 11 a.m. PST that will cover the details of the game.
