Lost Planet 2 found on PS3 in 2010

E3 2009: Capcom's sci-fi shooter will appear on Sony's console in addition to Xbox 360 early next year.

LOS ANGELES--When word first slipped out about Capcom's Lost Planet 2 in January, series producer Keiji Inafune reportedly told Famitsu that the project was in development for "multiple platforms." However, by the time Capcom officially announced the game in February, the publisher did so through Xbox Live, indicating that the multiple platforms in question may be the Xbox 360 and PC--with the PlayStation 3 left out in the proverbial cold.

Today, Sony Computer Entertainment confirmed that such a scenario would not be the case. As part of its news-laden 2009 Electronic Entertainment Expo press conference today, Sony confirmed that Lost Planet 2 would indeed see release on the PS3 in early 2010. It was not immediately clear whether or not the PS3 edition would ship alongside the Xbox 360 version of the game, which Capcom has previously pegged for this winter. The publisher had not responded to requests for comment as of press time.

The original Lost Planet: Extreme Condition was released as a timed exclusive for the Xbox 360, with PC and PS3 editions following six months and one year later, respectively. The original game saw Wayne, a snow pirate, battling the arachnid-like Akrid on the distant frozen world of EDN III. Lost Planet 2 is set 10 years after the events in the original, and in that decade, EDN III underwent substantial bioengineering, with a lush forest replacing portions of the frigid tundra.

Check back later today for GameSpot's all-new impressions of Lost Planet 2 from E3. For more information, check out GameSpot's last look at the game from Capcom's Captivate '09 event.

I loved the first game on the pc which was highly underrated. Graphics even without dx10 looked amazing even by today's standards. I just hope they add little extras for the pc like Capcom did for DMC4 where they fully utilized the pc and added a mode which drastically increased the amount of demons. They could do that with this game and increase the amount of akrids or physics.

But i must admit the graphics where better for my ps3 version and i had them both running on HDMI 1080p

Capcom has to released the PS3 and PC version alongside the xbox360 version. Not later but on the same date as the xbox360 version. Capcom has promised to released all of their games in multiplatform and no special treatment on either consoles as they released the supposed exclusive PS3 game Resident Evil 5 and DMC 4 on both platform they said that Capcom is now making all their games multiplatform to settle the complaints of PS3 owners, then now they have to deliver their so called excused to released the game on all platforms on the same date or capcom would lose face to all gamers and it wont be that hard since bionic commando.

A gamers worst enemy imo is exclusive games,,,,,,,,,,,I mean why da hell should I be able to play GOW while my friend who enjoys uncharted shouldn't play i and vise versa....
The only reason that made exclusive games make sense was the case of MGS4 as however I think about it it just needs to be decreased in quality and content in order for the 360 to play ..........
But again how many MGS4 like games are there nowdays?Nothing......
So to hell with exclusive games !!!!!!!!!!!! Just make them multiplatform already.....

So let me get this straight...it is indeed multiplatform meaning Xbox and PS3 only. No PC then? Or is it safe to assume that PC will be forthcoming seeing as that it is Capcom after all? I mean, we got DMC 4 already and SFIV, RE5 are coming soon. Oh well...I just hate it when they don't say right away what platforms games are coming out on.

I thought this was confirmed for both consoles day one? I was always under the impression that it was for both, but will admit I didn't pay much attention to it since it's so far off.
