E3 2010: Electronic Arts confirms hit PC game's debut date for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Wii, and DS; version for Nintendo's 3DS to follow in 2011.

LOS ANGELES--The Sims 3 family is growing, and today EA revealed an October 26 due date for the previously announced console versions of its latest bundle of joy. A 3DS edition of the game that was just announced today will debut sometime in 2011.

Published under the EA Play label, the game will sport many of the same customization and character creation options as the PC edition of the game, as well as some new features. These include karma powers, which players can use to give their in-game incarnations instant luck--be it good or bad.

The PS3 and Xbox 360 versions of the game will let players create and exchange content with one another, while the Wii version will focus on adventure game elements and is set in a beachfront community. The DS will also foster player creativity, with an emphasis on stylus-driven creation tools for clothes, houses, and furniture, as well as a story mode that follows a family through life.

The Sims 3 on the 3DS will make use of the system's 3D camera for face-mapping. It also features a focus on connectivity enabled by the 3DS, which can keep systems exchanging and downloading content for games even as the player uses other programs on the system.

    i cant wait, to buy it, sims was always a game that made me happy whenever i get pissed, and i need it now more than ever, damn mw2..

    HOw can I decide if I want this for wii or xbox don't have either console yet but do wish for wii becaue of animal crossing city folk..should I save for a wii and a couple games t hen down the road get xbox 360 and sims 3? I just don't know which sims 3 will be best or how it will work online or with other players..when will this info and the review of these be released??!!

    Although never as good as on PC, the console versions are still good

    Can someone message me if they find out that the console versions (xbox360&PS3) will have multiplayer where you can play the game either splitscreen or online with a friend thanks!!

    Will PS3 users be able to exchange data with XBOX 360 users? Seems unlikely, but that would be awesome.

    and I hope they have the controls the same as console Sims 2. It felt good to control the person that way instead of point and click :-D

    The sims 2 on consoles sucked compared to the PC version. Glad this time round they are matching them. I suppose thats because the Ps3 and 360 are now so powerful, etc.

    This will be the first time that the console version matches and builds on the game play of the pc version. Old and new sims fans will not be disappointed.

    sounds good on paper but i'm always sceptical when it comes to the Sims on consoles as in my experience they've never come close to thier pc counterparts.

    hopefully EA will break this trend

    The more I hear about it, the better it sounds. That being said, I think I will wait a few weeks after it comes out and listen to everyone's feedback. Sims: Bustin Out GBA and Sims: Urbz DS were great. Sims: Castaways, ok. Sims 2 and the rest - BLEAH!

    I'm not really hyped to hear the sim3 is going to be out on console mainly because of how disappointing sims2 was on the Ps2 and Xbox
