Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time coming to 3DS

E3 2010: Following Skyward Sword announcement, publisher confirms 1998 N64 classic will be reborn on new handheld.

LOS ANGELES--Today at Nintendo's press briefing, the publisher announced a slew of new titles for its new portable device, the 3DS, as well as for the Wii. Nintendo also took the lid off of The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword, which it had first teased at E3 2009. However, Nintendo didn't end its Zelda announcements on that note alone.

The Nintendo of America Twitter account recently tweeted news that The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time will arrive in 3D, on the 3DS. Later, at Nintendo's roundtable, the title was confirmed for release on the portable, though a price or scheduled release date wasn't announced.

Ocarina of Time originally launched on the Nintendo 64 as the first open-world Zelda title, garnering near-universal acclaim. It was later made available on Nintendo's Virtual Console in 2007.

Doesn't Nintendo ever get tired of ports and remakes?

OCARINA OF TIME IS WAY OVERRATED. But dont get me wrong its still a good game but far from perfect and even further from being the best game ever. And I love how everyone says its perfect, I remember playing this at a friends house in the late 90's and no one I knew thought this was the best game ever. Also Nintendo is my least favorite game company because all its games are kiddish or very similar I mean think about it the same thing happens in Mario every time bowser or somebody kidnaps the princess and you've gotta save her. I had a ps1, then a xbox, and now an xbox 360 and the games on the xbox 360 and ps3 are 9999999x better than the games on the console with the stupidest name ever the Wii. Lastly the 3ds is also overated I know someone that went to E3 and played the 3ds and and said it was hard to focus and not spectacular at all. My advice buy a 360 or ps3 the games are way better.

This game has always been one of my most favorite games in all the years ive played games. This game will almost seal the deal for me. To be able to replay this game in 3D will be amazing.. As well as any other game after that. this is going to be a system to look forward to.

ocarina of time on N64 is the best zelda game ever.i hope it will keep all its good points when it come to DS but it must also bring new features.otherwise,if it is only a straight port,i don't think that i should get this one.

Having to recreate what is arguably the greatest game ever created is definitely a welcome development.

If they can improve d dated aspects like graphics, and increase the world size, it will b an instant hit. I know a lot of friends (myself included) who dont mind buying d 3DS just to get dat game.

I don't need to say it but many of us modern day game enthusiast are sentimentaly attached to the original zelda game on N64. It was definitely ahead of its time.

Looks like more promising sales for Nintendo, but I wonder if they will be able to preserve the classic feeling of the N64 with this transfer to an entirely new gaming system. Ocarina of Time on a hand-held. I didn't think they would actually pull it off, but once again, I've underestimated what Nintendo can do. Though I will say one thing. It will definitely be different. Possibly even better with it's rich 3D goodness. I just hope it doesn't lose the same classic quality that made it a masterpiece back in 1998.

it looks like the 3DS will come out of the gates with a big bang. i already plan to get a 3DS on day one and have at least 5 games i plan to buy with it with OOT on the top of that list. Yeah, i played it a few times before too but it's worth playing again. i hope majora's mask is not too far behind. i also hope old ps1 games will soon come out on this handheld too. nintendo was the best of E3 2010. while sony and m$ was trying to copy nintendo's controller for their re-hash fps's again, nintendo was busy innovating again. weak graphics or what not, i'm glad that nintendo is still on top of this current gen wars.

Everyone has beaten this game a million times. I hope this has master quest to keep things fresh. I love the game but I know every corner of the game and it gets tiresome. I am gonna be disappointed if this is a straight port.

smart move by Nintendo... only thing is, this is gonna make the comparisons between Skyward Sword and Ocarina even more inevitable. SS had a lot to live up to anyway, this is only gonna put it under more pressure.

still, it's Ocarina of goddamn Time. PORTABLE. It's certainly made the 3DS a more attractive purchase to me
